organization: Congressman Chaka Fattah, US House of Representative, 2nd 
District, Philadelphia, PA

Project Issues: this office provides education opportunities through 
participation in the services and activities  associated with the operation 
of a Congressional office, for individuals interested in exposure to the 
legislative and representational processes of the U.S. Congress.  
Congressman Fattah's legislative focus is education and community and 
economic development, however, he plays and active role in all aspects of 
the legislative process. Major issues facing the 105th Congress are banking, 
education and community and economic development, however, he plays and 
active role in all aspects of the legislative process.  Major issues facing 
the 107th Congress are banking, education, welfare, environment,  and 
healthcare reform.  The office also devotes significant attention to matters 
related to international trade.

Intern's Responsibilities: Legislative research, meeting preparation; set 
up; attendance; attending House Committee hearings and markups: observing 
Floor proceedings; tracking legislation; drafting constituent correspondence 
; and other administrative tasks as assigned.  Depending upon the experience 
of the applicants special projects relating to their ongoing course of study 
may be designed and pursued .  Intern positions are paid and provide 
valuable and indispensable Capitol Hill experience for those interested in 
public policy, politics and/or law.
